Chapter 15

Mercedes

Jumping off his lap, Mercedes opened the door to reveal a girl being held a gunpoint.

"Lisa!", Mercedes screamed, kicking the guy in the balls and grabbing the girl, pulling her inside and throwing the door shut.

"Like, oh my god!" Lisa squeaked as she ran to Nick, throwing herself at him.

Nick, thouroughly surprised, embraced the stranger, stroking her back. Before introduction could be made, Lisa roughly threw Nick on the bed, falling on top of him, and ripping his shirt off. Like an animal, Lisa roughly started kissing him from head to toe. Nick, too bewildered to react, just laid there, enjoying the feeling.

"What the fuck are you doing?!" Mercedes yelled, throwing Lisa off him and shoving her hard against the wall.

"Like, I was like, saying hi." Lisa replied, struggling against Mercedes grip.

"Hi my ass! You must be high off your ass to say 'hi' to someone by jumping their ass."

"Like, your like, confusing me." Lisa replied, scrunching up her face.

"Ugh!" Mercedes yelled as she threw Lisa out in the hallway, locking the door in her face.

Now it was Nicks turn to get mad.

"What the fuck do you think your doing? I love her!"

"You WHAT?!" Mercedes asked, whirling around, a look of shock and hurt on her face.

"I...I...I love her!" Nick yelled, throwing open the door and pulling Lisa into his arms.

"I love you too Nick!" Lisa yelled back, kissing him all over his face.

"I don't believe this." Mercedes threw on clothes, grabbed her suitcase, and walked out the door.

"Fuck all of this!" Mercedes yelled, walking out the hotel doors and onto the street.

~Michelle~

"I'm so happy were moving in our house today!" Michelle exclaimed, throwing the remainder of her clothes into a suitcase.

"So am I." Howie replied, zipping his suitcase and plopping it by the door.

Weeks had gone by since Mercedes disappearance, and hardly anyone noticed her absence. Nick and Lisa were a perfect couple, and Howie and Michelle were slowly progressing also.

Getting on the plane that would take Howie and Michelle to their new home, Michelle found her seat next to Howie in the first class section and sat down next to him, buckling her seat belt.

"Damn belt!" Michelle yelled as she fought with the clasp.

"Here, let me help." Howie replied as he reached over and tightened the belt until it hugged her waist snuggly.

The plane took off smoothly and flew lightly into the evening sky. Looking at Howie, Michelle sighed in contentment and relaxed for the long flight ahead.

~Mercedes~

'The soup kitchen isn't all that bad,' Mercedes thought to herself as she grabbed her meal of condensed soup and a sugar-y pink liquid.

Selecting a seat on a table located by the door, Mercedes looked at her tattered clothes and thought about the past weeks. After storming out of the hotel, Mercedes-heart broken and poor-wandered the streets of New York. With no money or place to live, life had been rough. And here she was, dirty and cold, in a ghetto soup kitchen, just lucky to be alive.

The serenity quickly disappeared when a big, scruffy looking man entered the soup kitchen. Eyeing him suspiciously, Mercedes sat silently and peered up at him from her dinner. Just as the grubby man sat down, just seats away from Mercedes, another man entered the soup kitchen, having a similar appearance of the other man.

The two men spotted each other and very quickly a heated argument broke out between the two, fists flying and tables collapsing. Grabbing her tray and making her way towards the trash can, gun shots were heard and Mercedes ducked for cover.

"It's too late," Mercedes screamed as she felt a stray bullet penetrate her stomach. Falling to the floor in pain, Mercedes lay in a daze, watching a pool of red blood surround her. Her own blood.

~Michelle~

The plane violently shook as lights flickered and people screamed. Oxygen masks flew down from the overhead compartment and frantic people rushed to put them on. Michelle just stared at the floor, making no effort to put on the mask, and showing no signs of emotion. The plane descended quickly out of the night sky, falling towards the earth steadily.

A tear rolled down her cheek as she looked at Howie, unconscious in his chair. Pulling a mask over his face, Michelle held his hand and the air became thin and her lungs burned with an indescribable sensation.

"It's too late." Michelle said as she whispered those final words and rolled into unconsciousness, still holding Howie's hand.
